The 'Delta del Po' Park

The regional park named ‘Delta del Po’ (after the famous river) has been operating since 1996.  It is run by a specifically appointed management committee (named ‘Consorzio di Gestione’), which includes members from the local government bodies (the Province of Ravenna, the Towns of Ravenna, Cervia and Alfonsine).

The compound includes six different sites, three of which belong to the province of Ravenna – the areas named ‘Pineta di san Vitale e Pialasse di Ravenna’ and ‘Pineta di Classe e Salina di Cervia’ (both extending entirely within the province), and the ‘Valli di Comacchio’ site.

The bird life is the element of greatest attraction for the lovers, with over 320 species of birds of which about half as many nesting and wintering.

From the rich historical heritage stands witness to the magnificent Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe with its famous mosaics.

Many visit the centers and museums in the area that offer information to guide visitors and recognize the spirit of genuine key locations of the protected area.

Near the Rhine and the southern margin of the Valli di Comacchio, the Palazzone of St. Albert hosts the Ravennate Museum of Nature and a visit to the park.

In the pine forest of San Vitale, in summer it is open the Center for Environmental Information Cŕ Vecchia (0544 446866). In Saline di Cervia visit another center, with exhibition is the reference point for visiting the wetland (0544 973040), the Museo del Sale (Musa) is housed within the Magazzini del Sale di Cervia (0544 977592 ).
